Hypnotherapy
Cushla can also offer clinical hypnotherapy as provided by some integrated care centres. Hypnosis is a psychological technique used in medicine and psychology as a tool to help bring about positive changes to both the mind and the body. Consequently, the list of problems which may be amenable to Hypnotherapy is far too long and varied to catalogue but certainly includes: stress, anxiety, panic, phobias, addictions (e.g. smoking, overeating, alcoholism), disrupted sleep patterns, lack of confidence and low self-esteem, skin disorders, migraine and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
The application of hypnotherapy has increased in the Western medical community due to extensive research done on the effectiveness of the therapy and awareness of its benefits in treating health problems. Findings from research in modern cognitive, linguistic and personality research on hypnotherapy have caused a growing use of hypnosis in mind-body medicine. Pharmacological treatment has limitations in both efficacy and tolerability, however hypnotherapy could provide an option of integrating different treatment modalities to improve outcomes.
