- serious accidents
- physical and sexual assault
- abuse, including childhood or relationship abuse
- work-related exposure to trauma
- trauma related to serious health problems or childbirth experiences
- war and conflict
- torture. [2005, amended 2018] as identified by NICE
EMDR therapy is an eight-phase treatment approach composed of standardised protocols that facilitate a comprehensive evaluation of the clinical picture, client preparation, and processing of past events. EMDR therapy research has shown that processing memories of such experiences results in the rapid amelioration of negative emotions, beliefs, and physiological symptoms. Thus indicating the potential to apply this to patients with stress-related disorders and those suffering from a wide range of physical conditions
