Hypnotherapy
Clinical hypnotherapy is provided by some integrated care centres. Hypnosis is a psychological technique used in medicine and psychology as a tool to help bring about positive changes to both the mind and the body. Consequently, the list of problems which may be amenable to Hypnotherapy is far too long and varied to catalogue but certainly includes: stress, anxiety, panic, phobias, addictions (e.g. smoking, overeating, alcoholism), disrupted sleep patterns, lack of confidence and low self-esteem, skin disorders, migraine and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). NICE recommends hypnotherapy for IBS.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing therapy is a powerful psychological treatment method that was developed in the 1980’s. The wealth of research conducted demonstrates its benefits in treating psychological trauma and PTSD arising from experiences of childhood sexual and/or physical abuse or neglect, natural disaster, assault, surgical trauma, road traffic accidents and workplace accidents. EMDR is also increasingly used to help individuals with other issues including phobias, anxiety, pain management, and depression.
NLP
NLP (Neuro linguistic programming) is normally used by Life / Executive Coaches to promote positive change. NLP suggests there is a connection between neurological processes (neuro-), language (linguistic) and behavioural patterns learned through our experiences. You can choose to organise your ideas and actions to produce the results you want.
Welcome to Cushla
At Cushla we offer an integrative approach to health and well being and recognise that one size does not fit all. Cushla provides clinical hypnotherapy and life coaching among other strategies to promote mental well-being as an alternative to those therapies offered by the NHS on the Isle of Man. Our therapists have lived on the island for over 20 years and appreciate the concerns you may have in reaching out for help. We understand the importance of confidentiality and discretion and want to give you the best possible service. Be reassured that we provide a safe environment where your privacy is treated with the utmost respect.
Mission & Vision Statement
We use a multi-modality approach to first identify the hurdles facing a patient’s health,and then identify methods to effectively build a better picture of health.
Integrative care plans could involve:
- A co-ordinated mix of health and wellness coaching;
- Hypnosis as recommended by NICE for conditions such a IBS
- Advice and information on nutrition and lifestyle
- EMDR as per NICE Guidelines for PTSD
- The delivery of specific non-drug, non-surgical therapeutic interventions which are intended to facilitate greater vitality, resilience and growth in the person who presents with the illness
Cushla can offer the opportunity for people to gain and use the knowledge, skills and confidence to become active participants in their care so that they can reach their self-identified health and wellbeing goals. Personalised care means people have choice and control over the way their care is planned and delivered, based on ‘what matters’ to them and their individual strengths and needs. This represents a new relationship between people and professionals, enabling folk to feel informed, have a voice, to be heard and be connected to each other and their communities.
